I wish I could help you but I can find no record in my own archives of any DMQ3 files. Honestly I don't even remember ever trying it out with the trick/race mode etc. I would love for someone to have a copy of the Beta 6 that was posted (original download link was http://dmq.geeky.cc/Downloads/DMQ3-Required-Beta6.zip) but I can't find it anywhere, no archived copy of that either anywhere online.

Does anyone know where mfrx disappeared to? The Steam account he had hasn't been signed into in 1,804 days, about September 29, 2011 and of course all traces of his old site and blog are long gone.

Like so much on the Internet, I will see sites and downloads and figure "eh, it'll be here forever no need to download or save a copy" and then when I finally get around to checking again it has gone missing. Probably 3/4 of all my bookmarked sites are defunct as well now.

Anyway, revisiting these posts and this forum brings me all kinds of nostalgia and sort of underlying sadness thinking back to the good old days. DMC and the community had more impact and memories for me than any other game ever made, going back to the DMC Central days and pre-Steam community. It was a much happier and carefree time in my life and I remember many all-nighters playing DMC and making new friends.

If you or anyone ever manage to dig up DMQ3 I would love to get it myself...

This is the exact situation I was in.  I can't find a DMQ3 v6 anywhere.  It was the bees knees.  Ran it briefly on the 1393 server before calling it quits, but that drive is burned up.  I'm not sure if it was released for that long before disappearing.  Dammit.

#2 Re: Deathmatch Classic » DMQ Preservation » 2015-11-18 02:16:04

I'm still missing DMQ3, which would be the last version of DMQ mfrx was working on / released.  I was using it on the 1393 MIDWEST DMQ server in 2011-ish, and still can't find a copy.  It had the armor shard code in it too.  Really wish I could find the client / server binaries for it.  sad

Also, still missing a bunch of maps, hookse, pkeg, idk a lot,  and all the support files, sounds res skies are gone or all messed up.  I miss the old dmc-central download area.

Anyway I have a test server up intermittently.  It's not DMQ3 but it's DMQ FFA something.  Now to re-learn the whole resgen thing and try to get by with what I have in adminmod.  Cheers everyone.

KaszpiR - Excellent!  Thank you so much!

It's probably going to take me a while to get this all sorted, but I'm glad someone had it.

Cheers m8! big_smile

Beast:  Client dll would be a big help, still trying to track down latest server .dll as well.  I'm back on Steam now if you can find your old pw.

Thanks, -=]Qu454|2[=- !  This helps a lot.  big_smile

Hey peeps.

It's been a long time!  Every 6 months to a year, I reinstall Steam - and get a chance to see there are STILL no DMQ servers running.  Then, as an afterthought, I notice that there are no actual players on the DMC servers either.  Not surprising, the servers that I do see running are pretty horrible ( a million quads, no actual Quake like atmosphere - that kind of thing).  Yes, I know - the skilled have moved on to other games.  There's Quake Live, there's Reflex, etc.

The bummer is that since mfrx's site has disappeared, there has been no proper preservation of the DMQ fork of DMC Pro.  Google has been most unproductive in this matter as well.  I'm currently in the process of putting the 1393 site back together, and in this process, I'd like to preserve any and all material for DMQ and make these game files available to everyone.

I had a lot of this material, but sadly, it's on a useless, dead drive.  SO... my question to you, community,  is this:  What files do you still have?  I am looking for Client and Server .dll files, source code, models, zip files, anything.  Any DMQ files you have, from any version.  I'd prefer the final version (the last version mfrx made that included my armor shard models and the armor shard code is of highest priority of course, but I'm really looking for anything).  This stuff needs to be preserved and I'm very interested in doing this.

Of course, this probably means bringing back a few DMQ servers and DMQ duel servers as well.  Stateside. big_smile

Interested?  Hit me up on facebook - Enki Carbone, or leave a message here.  I'd really like to do this.  We had a lot of talented bunny hoppers in this game, and a lot of good people.  We had a great thing here.  The sites have slowly fallen off the map.  This was a great game.  It was sad to see it die, but it would be even worse to bury it permanently without any memory of what it was.  I love you guys, thanks for your time. <3

Thoughts?

#7 Re: Deathmatch Classic » DMQ has gone extinct » 2014-05-06 12:50:34

DMQ : Source is pretty much dead.

I had to stop working on the mapping / art  portion of it a few years back because I found a few jobs and they took a lot of my time.  At some point after that, mfrx dropped off the map and the dmq files for dmc have as well...  I can no longer access the .svn if it's still there...  not really not sure what's going on with it any more, but would consider it a no-go unless mfrx resurfaces and gets it reorganized.  I'm 3 computers later here, and no longer have any of the files, as they were kept on .svn.

The last time I looked at the dmc server list, there were no servers running anything good anymore, so gave up on that as well.  What's everyone playing now, besides Quake Live?

@Fireball

This could be why my servers aren't showing when I try to fire them up...

Steam or HLDS update?

I see Fireball's and DMQ3.  Good enough for me!  Thanks. big_smile

Fireball, are these servers done or are they going to make an appearance again?  I miss playing. sad

#11 Re: Deathmatch Classic » New ISP » 2011-11-22 01:06:31

I don't see any of your servers sad

I also don't know if mine are in the server list or not now that I tried firing them back up...  can't tell if it's a problem w/ the new Westell modem/router or just Steam being Steam.

Not happy.

#13 Re: Deathmatch Classic » DMQ Source » 2011-08-08 21:01:16

Nah, Q5 will need a single player.  They still need to put out RAGE and Doom4 before we will ever see it.

What Quake 5 should be: A return to the "original" Lovecraftian Quake I storyline, return to the Slipgates with variations of the original weapons and obviously better monsters and graphics.  This way Id can capitalize on the whole pentagram - 5 thing.  New and game specific well thought out changes to the T5 engine.  The flagship of future online deathmatch.

What Quake 5 probably will be: Stroggs... again.  Likely Stroggs during the invasion of Earth portion of the story.  A cheesy afterthought to Doom4 using all the scraps that never made it into Doom4 and RAGE with a weak storyline and laggy multiplayer.

It really seems they've not put a lot of effort into anything Quake that isn't RAGE related lately, and never seemed interested in getting Quake 4's MP off the ground / left it unsupported.   Maybe they need better writers?

OK... this is what I'd call interesting.

I wracked my brain back in January / making that logo specifically with the intent of "NOT GETTING OUR BALLS SUED OFF" for copyright infringement by Id Software,.... and lo and behold - the new Quakecon logo unveiled this week looks awfully familiar, doesn't it?

lol.

Lots of good peeps lately on East Coast DMQ.  big_smile

Thanks for some awesome games!

Ummm... ok.  Just for my own morbid curiosity:  How do you intend to have content without content management?

#20 Re: Deathmatch Classic » Deathmatch-classic ? » 2011-03-29 18:49:58

What CMS are you using?  Joomla? Drupal?  Wordpress?

Maybe some of us can help out if you want.  Php / css stuff is a breeze. big_smile

#21 Re: Deathmatch Classic » DMC:TC » 2011-03-15 10:32:25

^ Milkshape 3D is still trialware as far as I know, and for skins I always used Photoshop.  Paint Shop Pro is an ok alternative because the 256 color palate is a little easier to manage.  Wally is also pretty useful for palate stuff as well.  GoldSRC games are rather specific about it to work right.

Consider using Adminmod / Metamod with some groovy scripts,  and custom binaries (DMQ) for your server, or make your own if you're feeling particularly adventurous.  Vanilla DMC is rather balls.  Make sure you turn off sv_pure with custom models or you'll have all kinds of issues.

Have fun big_smile

#23 Re: Deathmatch Classic » DMC/Q config for ZeroRadiant » 2011-03-07 00:26:31

If you can find 1.4 for Linux anymore, you'd probably be better off with it in the long run, depending on if you can get it running (I've never tried using Radiant in Linux).
I know that only 1.5 and 1.6 are currently distributed through Trac... so if 1.5 is what you end up using, let me know how it goes in Ubuntu.

I'm considering a USB stick install for carrying around content.  Ubuntu / Kubuntu KDE are 2 of the candidates.

#24 Re: Deathmatch Classic » DMC/Q config for ZeroRadiant » 2011-03-06 05:09:58

I didn't know the  ZeroRadiant fork was designed for anything other than T4 / T5 compatibility (ET specifically... and eventually for RAGE).  It's kind of surprising that it would work with any GoldSRC game at all but I haven't looked at the Trac for some time.
1.4.0 works for GoldSRC and you can if you're crafty - get 1.5 working with it as well.
There are no DMC / DMQ game packs for any Radiant.  You have to make the .game files yourself custom to wherever you are storing your game files, wads etc (I'd just suggest using the HL ones and changing the info).  Also, with some versions you're going to need one version of .wad files in your /dmc/ directory and a duplicate in your /maps/ directory if you plan to compile from there and see the wads in your textures windows (a lot of people usually miss this part).

What Linux are you running it from?
