There has recently been a revival event for Deathmatch Classic spawned on Reddit. The plan is to have a mass play of DMC on March 31, 2018 from 17:45 UTC until at least 18:15 UTC or longer. That is 1:45 p.m. EST, 12:45 p.m. CST, 11:45 a.m. MST and 10:45 a.m. PT.
Quite a few new servers have been launched in preparation. I will be relaunching my DMQ servers (ParaServer) which will include CTF, Arena, FFA and others. No other DMQ servers exist and haven't for many years.
Would be great to see some of the old regulars on! I plan to keep the servers up this year to see who it attracts. Still wish it were possible to obtain DMQ3 beta that was floating around for a short time here.
I don't recall most third party maps ever having the .map source files released by the authors. They were almost all in the precompiled bsp format. People that did modify these maps usually had to go through BSP decompilers like BSPtwoMap.
I wish I could help you but I can find no record in my own archives of any DMQ3 files. Honestly I don't even remember ever trying it out with the trick/race mode etc. I would love for someone to have a copy of the Beta 6 that was posted (original download link was http://dmq.geeky.cc/Downloads/DMQ3-Required-Beta6.zip) but I can't find it anywhere, no archived copy of that either anywhere online.
Does anyone know where mfrx disappeared to? The Steam account he had hasn't been signed into in 1,804 days, about September 29, 2011 and of course all traces of his old site and blog are long gone.
Like so much on the Internet, I will see sites and downloads and figure "eh, it'll be here forever no need to download or save a copy" and then when I finally get around to checking again it has gone missing. Probably 3/4 of all my bookmarked sites are defunct as well now.
Anyway, revisiting these posts and this forum brings me all kinds of nostalgia and sort of underlying sadness thinking back to the good old days. DMC and the community had more impact and memories for me than any other game ever made, going back to the DMC Central days and pre-Steam community. It was a much happier and carefree time in my life and I remember many all-nighters playing DMC and making new friends.
If you or anyone ever manage to dig up DMQ3 I would love to get it myself...
This game looks gorgeous already and promises to be faithful to the old school arena games including Quake 1, Quake 3 and others. Check out the movement video here:

The Kickstarter was canceled but game development continues.
With DMC extinct and no signs of DMQ Source happening hopefully this will pan out and be something great.
Such a shame about DMQ Source... Not sure what ever happened to mfrx his site no longer exists or anything. Was a dream of mine for so many years to see Quakeworld in new engines.
@Qu, if you have the DMQ files you can replace your original DLL files in your local install (i.e., client.dll) then when you launch DMC and load up a map it will use DMQ so you can play all the maps like that.
I noticed the other night that the very last of the remaining DMQ servers have disappeared from the server list. What is left of the DMC community are several hookmod ones with 8 bots each--all of which have quads and pents sprinkled at every turn.
So sad....... Was hoping something would still come of the DMQ:Source Resurrection project. Cheers!
Yeah, I sort of saw that coming a year ago already. I may or may not revamp the site in the near future to stalk follow more of DMQ:S and less of DMC:S. Besides, three months of staring at the same giant "dik" model every time I load that page is rather tiring. Happy that DMQ:S is still kicking!!!
Slightly, but I do like the DMQ Source logo. On that note, I hope the mod is still moving along?
Awesome. Here are a few more nostalgic pics...
Allegedly they are done with brushwork for DM2/DM6 other than the textures, but they sure failed at doing it right...
You can walk right through the bars where yellow armor is. No crusher
Huge spacing issues on staircase
Have to literally jump over the bars to get to teleport
Missing RA secret
Missing underground section
Missing RA wall tunnel
I was briefly part of the rE clan, which in itself seemed to be a shortly lived clan.

Hey Wang! Remember this map?
This was probably the first "trick" map I ever played, long before the days of DMQ. I spent much time trying to land just right within the blue glowing box, only to ultimately discover that the teleport did not function.
LOL nice picture.....no words ....
Whats the name of this map?
dmc2_psx_hydrophobia
I joined one of these servers tonight and this is the very first thing I saw upon entering...
Just sayin.
Logo looks great!
Hey mfrx! I think you'll be sorrily disappointed with their code... From what I can tell, they've barely done anything to it short of changing a few lines and pulling in generic weapon templates. The lead developer of the mod is 14-15 years old; I pointed them towards DMQ originally but they didn't really say anything about it. I don't know if they've ever played DMQ (or perhaps even Quake) so they aren't aware how crucial proper physics are in it.
I like that you have a top secret project going! Also, its great to see many of the classic DMC players here (thank you Pun for pointing me here).
I was so interested in this mod after I learned about it that I threw together a Web page to track all of its progress in real-time (but I never told anyone about it). The page brings in posts from their community page, forum, moddb, and actual development builds amongst some other stuff. http://m3dr.com/DMCSource/ Again I didn't tell them about this page because I'm not sure if they want people accessing the source code etc that they're working on, but the code is publicly available on Google Code.
I'm just afraid they don't have the coding prowess to implement proper Quake/DMQ physics, but I'll still hold out hope.
