Steam Connection Problem

Hello all,

have since 3 months a connection problem at all servers! Every 30 - 45 seconds a lag from about a second.

During playing it isnt funny if you stop at bunnyhopping or shooting.

Steamsupport dont answer me!!!

Is it possible that the problem is in my router (allocation - port)?

My provider told me the connection is ok! Maybe some lag can becoming at the way from Germany via stations and the cable during the ocean to USA!

Whatever, maybe a shark bite into the cable, lol.

Any others have this problem too?

Anyone who have a advice?

Re: Steam Connection Problem

Do you mean all servers, or just server where you have a high ping?

If it is all servers - have you tried disabling / turning off all other programs?

If it is just high ping servers and you have been messing with your client options (rate and stuff) then try reseting to default.

Re: Steam Connection Problem

Never mind! At all Servers!

Use Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 and disabled it.

I know all in and outcoming datas are going through a prog. from Kaspersky called avp.exe.

Disabled avp.exe at my "autostart" but after its only possible to start the pc in "safety mode"

Maybe i must delete Kaspersky but which prog/Firewall using after?

Anyone using Kaspersky too?

Have only 1mbit connection but it worked good all the other time!

Re: Steam Connection Problem

Yeah, krapersky sux for games.   I don't know of any good ones though - I use a hardware firewall.

If it is possible, you could tell it to ignore all game traffic.  Look for options to disable network scanning / disable UDP traffic protection / ignore traffic on ports or something like that.

Re: Steam Connection Problem

There is a gaming profile you can enable also. Another option is to exclude the steam application monitoring and child applications. It also allows you to not scan its network traffic when you exclude Steam.

Re: Steam Connection Problem

Deleted dmc and installed new..... nothing

Deleted Kaspersky..... nothing

Ports (Router) are ok! https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art … -GLVN-8711

Steam Client

    * UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive (Game client traffic)
    * UDP 27015 to 27030 inclusive (Typically Matchmaking and HLTV)
    * TCP 27014 to 27050 inclusive (Steam downloads)
    * UDP 4380

All other online games without any lag!

Played this morning and it isnt funny if you have such lags! (stop during bunny, suddenly lag and you dont know where you are standing)!

More suggestions?

Re: Steam Connection Problem

Running out of ideas now sad

I am hoping that when you reinstalled DMC, you did not copy over any old configs.

The only other thing I can think of is windows firewall - but normally that just works after adding the first exception.  You could try turning it off (but only to test).

Re: Steam Connection Problem

I found the problem! NO LAGS NOW big_smile

Ctrl + Alt + Del open a window task-manager

right click at steam.exe and set priority from normal to high and all is fine big_smile

ok the speed is now a little slowly as before but without any lag and now solid
