I never knew you lived up here too Carbon.  tongue

To be honest I was rooting more for the Steelers.  Listening to people scream how great the Packers are all year every year got to me after a while.

I definitely do have an interest.  tongue  I used to model semi-avidly, and did a lot of weapon models and such for other games.  It is quite a different beast to be modeling for this one though.

My main time sink as of late is going to be slowing down soon (The hard part will be pretty much done at least), so I will definitely try to devote some time to re-learning things.  May take me a while to be able to do more than a crate though.  tongue

^ Lol

Very true, I brought that up in a forum post I started on the Steam forums once, but of course that died rather quickly.

Anyways, I was on East Coast DMQ earlier today wasting some time and I noticed one or two people try to connect but fail, likely because of the same file.  Isn't there any way to fix it?  The thought that new players can't even get into one of the good servers bothers me slightly.

I tried so many times to get an answer out of Valve as to why they charge for DMC.  Charging for a tribute to the game that their company couldn't have existed without seems kind of ignorant, and given the player base of the game these days it's just plain stupid really.  They just /ignore'd me though. sad

Good to see people still drag others into the fun though.  big_smile

Since you can get on you must have the proper model, and you should be able to just send it to him from your dmc/models/player folder.  Otherwise I, or anybody else for that matter, could upload it somewhere for them to download.

I'm pretty sloppy from the little bit I played today.  Mostly my aim as well, I can still get through Hoppa2 if I go at it for a while, but I forgot how choppy the mouse movement seems on good ole' DMC.

Do you guys go on at any general time?  I didn't have any luck catching people on today when I checked in between working on things, but I will definitely drop in if I see you guys on.  Looking forward to it.  smile

Thanks, it's good to see you guys too.

I did work with Source for a short while.  Mostly experimenting with the new mapping features upgraded from goldSrc and integrating character models.  Though to be fair I never finished my real character model, and the only one I put in was a very sloppy test of the default Cinema 4D biped.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4XWZYgEf1E

I do know about XSI, I have the full version floating around somewhere yet I think.  I personally do not use it for actual modeling and instead model in Cinema 4D and export my work out.  I have absolutely no idea how I did that anymore, nor can I probably remember how to model more than a cube at the moment, but maybe if I can get some other lingering work out of the way I will try to learn what I am doing once again.

This news made my day when I heard (3 days ago).  Hell, I'll say it made my week.  I've only been waiting for a proper version for more than a few years now, but I r not smurt nuff do eet. sad

Unfortunately my skills in both modeling and mapping have likely been reduced to those of an infant, but worse comes to worse I would love to be able to help somehow.  I'll definitely make unofficial maps after the release either way.  I was working on in-game models for Source almost a year ago, I've likely forgotten every bit of that, and the "Quake Guy" style character model I started seems to be lost (Not that it was worth keeping at the stage it was at) though.

I'll definitely be watching this intently regardless.  tongue

#9 Re: Deathmatch Classic » Hookmod quad servers » 2011-01-31 01:37:22

They seem to have become rather popular.

I tried really coming back to DMC probably around two years ago now, but I came to discover nobody ever used the DMQ servers and the only one with a real amount of people ever was a regular DMC hook-mod server with quads and pents everywhere they could cram them.  Bad times.

I also remember American Zombie.  I, and I believe it was Pun, would see who could get kicked from his server the fastest for killing him.  Personality traits aside, he made for some comical entertainment at times.

Usually my whole skull(s) were left scattered around the floor when I was in a match with BB. sad  Great to see you're okay, and back here no less.

Also great to see this community back alive again, it's been quite some time since I have seen most of the people here.  I can't even remember the last time I launched DMC, it became kind of depressing to do so after things started dying down.  Seeing these names sure makes me nostalgic though, I'll have to try to catch some of you in-game sometime(Preferably after I learn how to move at all again).

Just launched Steam and realized I didn't even have DMC installed! sad  All well, I'll try to get it going.  You guys better be in-game to gib me up someday.
